As a teacher, and someone with ADD myself, I am constantly astounded how many educators do not understand this learning disability. Sure, most know that it makes it hard for the individual to focus, but there are countless other symptoms that are not as common, but incredibly challenging to deal with. In this section of my website, I will include various websites that have been eye opening for me, and I hope will be a help to children, teens and adults.
The first website is one for adults primarily, but includes topics such as resources of ADHD adults, ADHD parenting and general resources. The site is titled, “ADDitude” which is fitting because to fully understand ADHD, you have to embrace the mindset and what makes sense to the ADHD brain. Having this learning disability does not by any means indicate there is anything wrong with you – it simply means you think, process and function differently than people without ADHD. The best solution is to learn how to manage the symptoms with strategies that work with each individual. So, at the end of the day, it is indeed a lifestyle. After the first link, I included a list of other websites that are helpful to individuals with ADHD, as well as helpful to educate those who would like to learn more about it. Down the road, I plan to write more about my own experience with ADHD, but until then, I hope you enjoy the following incredible websites!
